FC Twente3 scored their first goals of the 2008 season, but it was not enough to keep from adding more losses to their record.
On Saturday afternoon, FCT3 welcomed FC St. Louis to Loyola Soccer Park. Last season, the two squads each won the home legs of their matches. It is already a different story this year as STL claimed the away win, 3-2.
In a back and forth first half, Ashley Hay opened the scoring in the 35th minute to give the vistor's the lead. Just as it looked like the teams would head into half-time with that scoreline, FCT3 veteran, Karen Enockson tied things up.
2007's leading scorer made her first appearance of the '08 season and scorched a rocket into the far side netting in the 45th minute. Enockson latched onto a pass from youngster Kristin Papierski, from about 25 yards out.
Early in the second half, a dubious penalty was called, giving the visitor's a chance for the lead. However, FCT3 captain Stefani Szczechowski came up the save, holding the shot after diving low to her right.
"You'd think that having your keeper save a penalty would pump your squad up," said Head Coach, Richard Drake, "unfortunately it just pumped us up to give up a goal during the run of play instead."
In the 5st minute, mere minutes after the penalty save, STL took the lead for good. FCT3 pushed for the tying goal, but another STL shot against the run of play made it 3-1 in the 87th minute.
The spunky young players from FCT3 then decided they would finally play a little soccer. Taking the ball directly from the kick-off, a few sharp passes found the ball in the box and newcomer Amy Szilard banged in the second goal off a pass from Lauren Papierski.

On Sunday, while FC St. Louis was preparing to beat local city rivals, Chicago United, FC Twente3 made the quick trip northwest to Madison take on the MYSC Lady Blues.
Fighting a strong wind in the first half and dodging foul-tipped baseballs in the second half, FCT3 dropped the match 1-0 to the WPSL newcomers. With the wind at their back in the first half, MYSC played many long balls looking to counter quickly. Szczechowski patrolled her penalty area well, but was undone by a hopeful, wind-aided long ball from 40 yards out in the 32nd minute.
The second half saw FCT3 move the ball well, and stop a few counter-attacks. But they couldn't muster any strong chances while looking for the tie.
