About the Coaching:

Tony Horta has been named head coach of the New England Mutiny of the Women's Premier Soccer League for the 2007 season. Tony coached at the collegiate level for the Quinnipiac women's soccer team for nine years; developing a nationally ranked program and won three Northeast-10 Championships. Horta was named Conference Coach of the Year in 1994. He was an assistant to nationally ranked women's program at the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford. He was also involved with the Olympic Development Program and serves on the CJSA Premier Board of Governors. Horta has also coached at the professional level. In 1987, he was named Coach of the Year in the LASA league and most recently guided Academica FC in the Arena Soccer League.

The head assistant coach is Sam Lopes. Sam is the head assistant women's coach at Southern Connecticut University and is also the Director of Coaching for Academica FC, a premier youth club in Connecticut.

Chris Legates rejoins the Mutiny as an assistant and goalkeepers coach. Chris was with the Mutiny from 2003-2005. He is also the head coach at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford, CT. Manny Oliveira and James Luis will also be assisiting the Mutiny in 2007. Manny is the assisitant women's coach at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. James coaches for Academica FC based in Cheshire, CT.

Type of Players: In its storied history, the Mutiny have utilized current and former U.S. and foreign national team players; top collegiate players from all over the nation and the best local players in the region.

Local Colleges: Area colleges that the Mutiny have utlized its players are UMASS, Boston College, UCONN, Amherst, Boston University, AIC, Springfield and Hartford.
