SEALIONS WIN, BUT FALLS SHORT IN BID FOR PLAYOFFS

LAFC Chelsea Ties Their Match and Advances With Ajax America
Three Teams Tie For First Place, SeaLions Left Out

SAN DIEGO (July 18, 2010) - Mabel Velarde Coba tallied a goal in the 87th minute to lift the San Diego SeaLions to a 3-2 victory over Ajax America in a Women Premier Soccer League match at Manchester Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

San Diego finished the 2010 campaign with a 6-3-1 mark and 19 points. However, the San Diego SeaLions will not make the 2010 WPSL Playoffs after LAFC Chelsea tied their match with the Claremont Stars, 1-1, late on Sunday night. Which leaves them in a three-way tie for first place with Ajax America and LAFC, but do not advance based on the tiebreaker.
